High School Graduation Requirements
To qualify for graduation from Lapeer Community Schools, students must successfully complete the following requirements as established by the Board of Education and Administration:
- Students must attend high school for four years or eight semesters.
- Students must be enrolled in a full schedule of classes each semester. A full schedule is six credits for ninth & tenth-grade students and five or six credits for eleventh & twelfth-grade students
- Students must earn 46 credits with a passing grade. One credit is awarded for successful completion of a semester subject and two credits for a full-year course.
Other specific requirements for graduation:
English - 8 credits
Mathematics - 6 credits
Science - 4 credits
Social Studies - 6 credits (must include 2 credits of US History & 2 credits of American Democratic Institutions)
Physical Education/Health or Life Management - 1 credit (for each subject)
Foreign language, fine/performing arts, vocational/practical arts - 2 credts (in any combination)
