COVID-19 Teacher and Support Staff Grants

PA 166 of 2020 allocated funds to be paid to qualifying classroom teachers and support staff through the Teacher COVID-19 Grant Program and the Support Staff COVID-19 Grant program. These funds were identified to be paid for a variety of factors including additional time spent outside of normal working hours and additional cost incurred by staff to implement remote learning during the spring of 2020.

Please note the following:

  • Local school districts are obligated to identify qualifying staff in accordance to PA 166. It is important to recognize that we did not locally establish the criteria for qualification, nor the amount. Unfortunately, there are numerous staff members who put in countless extra hours and likely incurred additional costs, however, were not defined in the legislation and therefore will not qualify for payment.

  • PA 166 is in response to events that occurred in the spring of 2020 and does NOT address anything after last school year. Future legislative action may occur that would impact the 2020-2021 school year however nothing has been passed at this time.
