Lapeer Community Schools is known for its tradition of excellence in instructional programs and educational leadership. For students just beginning their education, LCS offers full-day Kindergarten five days per week, as well as an Early Five Program. At the secondary level, twelve advanced placement (AP) classes are offered to students: Calculus, Chemistry II, Comparative Government, English 11 & 12, French V, Psychology, Spanish V, Statistics, U.S. History, U.S. Government, and Studio Art. LCS offers a coordinated French and Spanish program for every student, kindergarten through 12th grade.
The LCS instrumental music program and art program are recognized as being among the top in the state of Michigan. For over twenty-five years, bands from Lapeer’s high schools and junior high school have consistently received superior ratings at district and state band festivals. Each year more high school musicians from Lapeer’s high schools perform at the State Solo and Ensemble Festival than from any other school district in the state. In the art program, excellence begins in our elementary schools where art teachers collaborate with classroom teachers to align art lessons to the curriculum. LCS art students consistently take top awards in local, state, and national art competitions.
LCS adopts Springboard English curricula for grades 6-10
